One of the most underrated romantic comedies bollywood has produced if not one of the most unique.

When was the last time you saw a mainstream family comedy where the protagonists were ex-drug addicts or financial leaches?

The diverse sense of humour displayed throughout the movie caters to audiences across ages. The movie relates to the audience in multiple ways at the same time maintaining a reality check that most of the movie’s situations can’t possibly happen in real life.

Surely in contention for Parineeti Chopra’s best performance till date where she portrayed the split persona of Meeta; the ‘munchy maniac’ after her stress pills and otherwise the ‘kid who lost her way’. Her energy was well absorbed and reflected by Sidharth Malhotra who’s becoming a straight choice for calm and mellow characters in Bollywood. The supporting cast too did their jobs well, with no-one feeling out of place.

As most Dharma Productions movies, HTP too showcases an array of first world problems; be a businessman fiancé overshadowed by his actress spouse-to-be. How a geeky brat gets caught doing drugs and runs away to another continent for years without a trace. Back to the male protagonist trying to get rich quick with his random business ideas in order to match his business minded in-laws to be.

A complex plot with interesting characters, well designed ‘feel good’ moments and exceptional music makes Hasee toh Phasee a complete package.

Ad-guy turned filmmaker, debutant Vinil Mathew has made a beautifully well-written movie that can be watched over and over again. The movie has random moments of hilarity largely surrounding Parineeti’s character; when Meeta interacts with the twin-grannies, as a matter of fact, most of her munchy-induced moments of madness steal the cake.

The movie leaves you with pretty much no hangover, your emotional commitment with the characters ends with the movie… which is never a bad thing.
